Gas prices continue to drop locally

The average price at the pumps statewide is now at $2.16 a gallon; but at many Twin Falls locations prices have hit below the $2.00 mark. Many drivers say this is a relief for their wallets... at least for now.

It's been a long time since drivers can remember the last time the price at the pumps were below two dollars a gallon.

But at many Twin Falls locations this is now a reality and many Idahoans are excited.

Twin Falls resident Brandon Scott said, "I think it's good especially for the economy. I was reading on yahoo dot com that Idaho is in a state of a recession so I think it's going to help our economy."

Resident Kyle Jacobson says, "It's very helpful. I drive all over for my business and there's a lot less over head when prices are this cheap."

But it's not only Idaho residents that are noticing a difference. Those who are traveling from out of state say they are feeling relief as well.

According to the Labor Department the dramatic decline in gas prices has helped to produce the largest drop in the Government's Consumer Price Index in the past 61 years.

They said besides gas, they've seen cheaper prices for clothing, new and used cars, and air fares.

But that's not the only good news. In their study, they also predict lower prices in months to come.

While most people hope gas prices will stay below two dollars a gallon... Others say they don't think it will last.
