Snow Badly Needed

Some snow can be seen up at the Pomerelle Ski Resort in the Albion Mountains.
Unfortunately, a more common sight is the brown of grass and dirt on most of the slopes.
This means it's likely that like most ski areas in Idaho, the slopes will be bare on thanksgiving.
Zach Alexander, manager of Pomerelle Ski Resort “Obviously, you know, this is something that is so dependent on Mother Nature, and all you can see, it's all sunshine and warm weather, and no snow.” This would be the fourth ski–season in a row the resort has failed to open.
Alexander says “Oh, it's super important. You know, Thanksgiving is such a huge day for any ski area, especially for us. You know, families love to recreate on Thanksgiving, and it's a big weekend, and missing out on that is really hard.” In previous seasons, the resort has earned as much as one–hundred–fifty–thousand dollars in revenue. For four years, that is over a half–million dollars of unearned revenue Pomerelle won't see. Well, the problem is, even last year, we had all the snow in the world, we could have stayed open until May, but people stopped coming.
After opening on December 15, record snowfall late in the season brought in significant spring skiing. However, by the time that snow came, many people begin to lose interest.
“You know, we'd love to be open today, we'd love to be open tomorrow, but, there's nothing we can do about it.”
