The Department of Fish and Game says that sales of fishing licenses increased 6 percent last fall.
And overall in 2008 – 1.3 million licenses and tags were sold.
But lately has the economy hurt license sales?
Kelton Hatch, with Fish and Game says “It has. We've seen kind of a slow start on our hunting and fishing license sales. I really feel a lot of it is due to winter. It's been a long, cool winter this year.”
Fish and Game Director Cal Groen notes the number of people coming from out of state to purchase licenses has decreased – but its not due to the economy — but wolf concerns.
Hatch hopes that the interest will rise because of what Idaho has to offer.
