A $4.5 million public works project has resulted in a temporary closure of the Twin Falls Chamber Of Commerce Visitor Center near the Perrine Bridge.

Construction is taking place on the first phase of a storm water sewer system being added beneath Blue Lakes Boulevard North.

The project requires that some drilling be done in the parking area of the visitor center. The drilling is being done in preparation of the beginning of construction on March 9th.

Installation of the new storm water sewer system will begin at the Snake River canyon rim, and move south along Blue Lakes toward Pole Line Road.

The work is expected to cause some lane closures at times through the end of March, and again starting in May.

Meanwhile, travelers south of Wendell can expect some delays this month.

The Department of Transportation will be working on the Rex Leland Highway starting next week on the 16th..

Thru traffic will be closed between 3400 and 3200 South roads. However traffic will be diverted on 1800 East.

Work will be done on two canal crossings, as well as increasing sight distance. Construction is expected to last through May. The project is federally funded with $1.1 million.
