Cruz changes plea in aggravated battery of an officer case

A Gooding County trial scheduled to begin Wednesday will not be held.

Miguel Cruz, 21, is charged with aggravated battery in a Wendell incident during December. Tuesday Cruz pled guilty to biting off a police officer's ear on December 19th.

District Judge Barry Wood dismissed the charge of malicious injury to property in another case.

Cruz could serve up to 15 years in prison and face a fine of up to $50,000. Wood set Cruz’s sentencing for 2 pm May 19th.
