A Buhl man charged with 10 counts of injury to a child made his plea earlier today.

Scott Lee Beede is accused of injuring five children by burning, choking and shooting some with a BB gun; the children range in age from toddler to teens.

Beede chose to plead not guilty to all ten counts and will go to trial.

Originally Beede was charged in 2008 with only 5 counts of injury to a child and the county prosecutor dismissed the charges. In January ten charges were re-filled against Beede.

Injury to a child is a felony and could face 10 years for each count in prison.

Meantime, a Buhl resident charged with possession of a controlled substance has waived her preliminary hearing and been bound over for arraignment in Fifth District Court.

Authorities say 32-year old Brandi Havens hid methamphetamine inside of her body, and used the substance, while in Twin Falls County Jail on unrelated charges.

Investigators say havens brought 2.2 grams of meth into the jail, concealed inside her body.

And a local woman charged with abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult has waived her preliminary hearing and has been bound over for arraignment in Twin Falls County Fifth District Court on Monday May 11th.

47–year old Cindy Laws of Twin Falls was a member of the county's 'Board Of Community Guardians,' and was the court appointed guardian of at least three people who were unable to care for themselves.

Laws is accused of stealing more than six thousand dollars from a 93–year old woman with dementia.

An investigation is looking into whether there were other victims, although so far, no additional charges have been filed.
