Jerome school bond fails

By

05/22/09

The Jerome school bond measure failed to pass last night. According to school officials they did receive a winning popular vote, but they needed a 66 percent turn out.

Instead only 54 percent voted, that's a total of only 1.488; 807 voted yes, while 673 voted no. School officials will met at their next board meeting to discuss their options now.

The earliest it could be placed on another ballot is December. One board member says it’s unfortunate because $5-million in stimulus money was tacked on.
