After Majid Kolestani comes up for sentencing in his 1st degree murder case in July – he may find himself between two worlds in the prison population.
Monday Kolestani, the defense attorney, and Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs reached an agreement in the killing of Ehsan Kababian last year in Twin Falls.
Once Judge Randy Stoker sentences Kolestani to an agreed upon 18 to 20 years in prison, he'll be turned over to the Idaho Department of Correction.
It will be up to the IDOC to decide where he'll be housed, but Tuesday Loeb's confirmed for KMVT – that Kolestani will not be able to be housed with either the male, or female, general prison population.
Kolestani – who's also known as Nastaran – is believed to be partially through a sex change procedure to transform him from a man — to a woman.
Prior to yesterday's plea agreement Kolestani was told he could wear women's clothing and undergarments at his jury trial.
Loebs says for sentencing — Kolestani will wear an orange county jail jumpsuit and will not be wearing female attire.
It’s uncertain if this is the first Idaho prison who is considered 'trans–gendered' by some definitions.
