Cassia County Sheriff Officials have arrested a Rupert man for the alleged attempted murder of another man after luring him to buy an all terrain vehicle. On Wednesday, Cassia County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David James Prano, 45, of Rupert. Prano is being charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of aggravated assault, robbery with a deadly weapon, and grand theft.

According to information released by the sheriff's office, the incident took place at 2550 East and 300 South, near Declo on Monday. The victim was attempting to purchase an ATV from Prano, and two other unknown accomplices, when he was robbed at gun point.

As the robbery was taking place, a second vehicle, not connected to Monday's incident, was passing through the intersection. The suspects turned their attention from the robbery, and fired several shots at the vehicle as it passed through the intersection. The vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, sustained damage from the gunfire but the occupants were not harmed.

The two unknown accomplices, a Hispanic male about 30 years old with short hair, and a thin white male about 20 years of age, are suspected of assisting Prano with both the robbery and the shooting. The unknown Hispanic male was reported to have been driving a dark blue pickup possibly a Chevrolet S-10.

Anyone with information related to this crime should call Sgt. Dan Renz at the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office at 878-9360 or Cassia County Dispatch at 878-2251.
