National Transportation Safety Board officials are starting their investigation into a private plane that crashed near downtown Burley yesterday.

Two people, a student pilot and an instructor, were taken to Cassia Regional Medical Center and treated for relatively minor injuries. Both men are from Klamath Falls, Oregon.

It's uncertain why the plane lost power shortly after takeoff from the Burley Municipal Airport around ten Wednesday morning.

Typically it takes six months or longer for the NTSB to issue a report citing the cause of the accident, although mechanical failure is certainly considered a possibility in this case.
