A former Twin Falls City Police detective has waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and has been bound over to 5th District Court for arraignment.

Curtis Gambrel, 44, is charged with 5 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. The 22-year veteran of the Twin Falls Police is accused of obtaining numerous fraudulent prescriptions for the drugs from Jan Sund, a local nurse practitioner, from January 2005 to April 2007.

The sentence was then suspended while Sund attends a mandatory 6-month rider program at an Idaho prison facility.
