Off duty officer hits bicyclist near 4000 North

Idaho State Police are currently investigating an officer involved accident. The accident involved off duty Twin Falls County Jail Deputy David Hartgrave, 29.

According to ISP officials, emergency crews responded to a bicycle verses vehicle accident at the intersection that leads to the Twin Falls Hydroelectric Plant on 4000 North also known as Falls Avenue.

The bicyclist, Gary Flora, 41, was sent to the hospital with multiple injuries including several broken ribs, collapsed lung and road rash. According to ISP, the off duty officer was in his own pickup, towing a boat heading south on 3500 East. Flora was headed east on Falls when the officer failed to stop at the stop sign.

At this point the incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed as of yet. However, ISP says the officer was in violation of inattentive driving.
