3 Road Work Project in the Magic Valley

By KMVT STAFF

***
Just east of Burley a major short cut for drivers in Minidoka County to Cassia County will be fixed.
Work is set to start Monday on the 500 west overpass on I–84.
In January this semi truck hauling a fork lift that exceeded the legal height limit damaged the overpass.
Preparation work will be done to replace the damaged girder.
Westbound traffic on the interstate will be restricted to one lane at the overpass.
It will be in effect from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
On August 5TH westbound traffic will be detoured off the interstate from the Heyburn exit to the Burley exit. This is planned for 10pm to 6am.
***
Also work is slated to start Monday on Eastland in South Twin Falls.
The Eastland underpass project will replace 150 feet of concrete road section – as well as 450 feet of existing asphalt – and modify the storm water drainage.
This is near the railroad bridge on Eastland Drive south of Kimberly road.
This section of Eastland will need to be closed for about 40 days.
Construction will be completed in about three weeks – and the concrete will need to dry for about a month after that.
The new asphalt should last 20 years – and the new concrete should be good for 40 years.
***
Drivers will have to slow down on a stretch of highway 93 between the Perrine Bridge and the interstate.
Starting Monday the Idaho Transportation department will be doing a seal coat project.
The road will have loose gravel on it in both directions.
Travel will be restricted to one lane in both directions as well, while crews do their work between 8am and 9pm.
Speed will be limited to 45mph.
