Nothing for MinidokaHunt
The National Park Service has awarded nearly $1million dollars to increase public awareness about sites which housed Japanese Americans during WWII.
Still, none of that money is scheduled to go to Minidoka Internment National Monument in Jerome County, which housed more than 10,000 people of Japanese descent who were forced to leave their homes on the west coast after the bombing of pearl harbor. Within a short time the Minidoka relocation center became one of the largest cities in Idaho between 1942 and 1945. A spokesman said while the 'Friends of Minidoka' group had applied for part of the grant money – it will go to other locations and organizations instead. |
