Public schools in Twin Falls, including the new Canyon Ridge High School, opened this morning for the new school year. In turn law enforcement officials were busy cracking down on speed limit enforcement around schools in Twin Falls, and other towns in the Magic Valley.

One concern is a recent 40.5 percent increase in fatal and injury accidents involving bicyclists.

According to information from the Idaho Transportation Department, bicycle crash rates rose for nearly all age groups last year - and nearly 50 percent of all bike accidents involved school age riders.

In turn, 230 pedestrians were injured or killed during 2008, with 36-percent of them 19-years of age or younger.
