Some of Idaho’s own are fighting fires out of state right now. Julie Thomas of the Sawtooth National Forest says they sent about 30 to 35 fire fighters to battle the blazes in California.

That includes the 20 member Sawtooth Hotshot Crew, two Incident Commanders, and a Type Two helicopter with about ten personnel.

Heather Tiel Nelson with the Bureau of Land Management says the fire fighters are assigned to a specific location for two weeks, and are allotted four extra travels days to get to and from their destinations.

Idaho fire agencies also sent four engines with three or four fire fighters each to the state of Utah, along with four overhead team members.
