5K Run Benefits Local Families

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The cold weather Saturday morning didn't stop dozens of runners from participating in CSI's second annual Santa run 5k. Miguel Rosas was up bright and early Saturday morning. He was one of dozens of people who participated in the 5k.

"It starts the day off, it's a good way to start the day off in a good way because I feel like I've accomplished something by running the 5k," said Miguel Rosas.

While it's not quite the North, there are plenty of toys at the second annual Santa Run. As the horn sound and the clock started, runners from across the Magic Valley are not only running for themselves but they're running to benefit local families right here in Southern Idaho.

"I'm running because I think it's a great cause, helping out kids for Christmas," said Miguel Rosas.

The registration cost for the run was one unwrapped toy.

"The Running Club is actually in charge of the Santa Run. We're doing it to raise toys for children as Christmas presents and we will be donating them right to KMVT. We will take them up there," said Yolanda Orozco from the CSI Running Club.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, some runners wanted to burn off a few extra calories before they start eating all of that delicious Christmas food.

"Getting ready for the holidays. I'm going to be eating a lot so this is a good way to get rid of some of those calories," said Miguel Rosas.

A run to help others have a great Christmas.
