Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The South Central Community Action Partnership has been involved with 60-hours to fight hunger for 13-years.

The organization believes the community steps up by donating turkeys for families in need.

"It started out on a smaller scale because there is a need; there is a need to help the burden of the holidays so this is one way we can help” said Leanne Trappen Organizer, South Central Community Action Partnership.

60-hours of Hunger wants to meet the goal of bringing in 25-hundred turkeys, last year they brought in 16-hundred.

"Next Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving we hand them out and we have traditional food that goes with it, we've got potatoes and all that stuff. It's quite the event just handing them back out” said Leanne Trappen Organizer, South Central Community Action Partnership

"I think it's really important that people have a Thanksgiving dinner and then some of the turkeys actually go onto Christmas baskets depending on the quantity on what we are go collect on with the next 60-hours” said Con Paulos President, Con Paulos Inc.

More than 9-thousand families in the magic valley are in need of help this holiday season.

An event that brings together the community to make a difference.
