More H1N1 vaccinations have been delivered to the South Central Public Health district in Twin Falls. And now, officials are gearing up for their first mass immunization clinic.
District Director Rene LeBlanc said, "This week, we finally received the injectable, the syringe and needle"
Now that the vaccine is here, officials say they first want to target smaller schools first, as they are most affected by the outbreak.
LeBlanc said, "They have the greatest impact if they incur absenteeism, and we want to make sure that they keep their average daily attendance numbers up – because that's the source of their funding."
For now, the district has 2100 doses, and should soon receive 2900 more.
LeBlanc said, "Most of the vaccine we are getting, 50 to 70 percent of it, we are going to allocate to registered private providers, and we will also give 100 to Family Health Services."
The first major school–based immunization clinic is taking place tomorrow. Getting vaccinated is a simple process. And officials hope there will soon be enough doses for everyone.
