Podcasting 101

It's a popular way to download music so why not download information about your favorite book.
IPods can not only save you a trip but can also help the vision impaired stay in touch with the local library.
A group of Magic Valley librarians sat, watched and listened during Podcasting 101.
Charles Bolles with the Idaho Commission for Libraries says, “Podcasting is simply downloading audio files onto a website or even to an iPod"
Experts say iPods and MP3's are popular among teens and college students.
But some parents may soon be asking to borrow them because they may want to check out a book review or learn more about various programs at the library.
It's programming for all ages.
Bolles says it’s for, “...anybody who has a computer, you don't even need an iPod, if the library has a website they can load the audio files".
Library news is becoming portable and convenient.
You can listen to book reviews say on the way to office as opposed to taking the time to read about it.
Podcasting also helps those with sight difficulties.
In the workshop librarians also saw how other states are taking advantage of podcasting.
Workshops will be held in five other Idaho locations.
The Seattle based Gates Foundation foots the bill.
CSI and Twin Falls Library Services will continue to study the possibilities and later decide if they will utilize podcasting.
