A southern Idaho man facing seven charges related to the shooting death of a Rupert man was in court Thursday…

On September 19th, Liopoldo Amezcua, 25, of Rupert died after being shot once in the head near the old raft river store in eastern Cassia County.

His fiancée Estela Castro, 45, of Rupert, says she was beaten there and her car was stolen; 28 grams of methamphetamine were also found at that location.

Police arrested Gerry Salgado, 22, of Aberdeen, Idaho, and charged him with first degree murder, aggravated battery, and attempted murder - as well as grand theft, battery, conspiracy to commit drug trafficking in methamphetamine - and robbery.

Last month Estela Castro was arrested on a federal drug charge of distributing methamphetamine.

Magistrate Judge Rick Bollar bound Salgado over to district court on all seven charges, where he will be arraigned at 9 am on Tuesday, November 24th.
