This past summer Hailey resident Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl went missing and was captured by Taliban rebel forces in Afghanistan. We spoke with Bowe's girlfriend, on keeping the faith especially this Veteran's Day.

"I never really thought about how people would be affected by a day where they are remembered because of what they've done."

Monica lee is Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl's girlfriend. She works at Zaney's River Street Coffee House in Hailey where Bowe was previously employed, before enlisting in the Army. She says this Veteran's Day is like none ever before.

Monica says, "I'm personally affected by it because I'm dating someone who is now considered a veteran and it's going to be definitely difficult probably for the rest of our lives because he's going to be invited to do different things."

It was back on July 18th when the Taliban released a video over the internet of Bowe Bergdahl.

Still, hope remains with the city of Hailey as ribbons and messages are seen throughout the community. Monica says they continue to receive a great deal of support.

"A lot of letters are constantly sent to us. People just write, send to the family of Bowe Bergdahl, Hailey, Idaho. It gets there; it's nice and then people send emails to the Sheriff station. We get them. We just got a whole bunch of them yesterday."

She encourages everyone to continue to send emails and other methods of support especially as the holiday season is approaching.
