Out of state speeder gets busted with 2 lb's of pot

A routine traffic stop on the interstate near Wendell this morning has resulted in a drug bust.

Just before 8 this morning Trooper Nick Walker of the Idaho State Police stopped Jonathan D. Cassidy, who resides in California, for speeding.

Cassidy was traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 near Wendell in Gooding County; while talking with Cassidy the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

During a search that was conducted, Trooper Walker seized 2.6 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $7000.

Cassidy's vehicle was seized and he was arrested on a felony charge of drug trafficking and booked into the Gooding County Jail.
