Good news for skiers and snowboarders, it looks like the ski season will officially open next week for southern Idaho.

Sun Valley Spokesperson Jack Sibbach says they expect to open up on the traditional day of Thanksgiving this year.

He says they've been making snow for a few weeks but Mother Nature helped out.

On Saturday, the resort will have a winter expo and a ribbon cutting for the new gondolas.

Free rides will be given on the gondolas from 11am to 2pm that day with festivities on into the afternoon.
