Thanksgiving is all about being thankful for what we have. For many, it's also a chance to give back to the community.

Today began the annual 60 Hours to Fight Hunger event, where people from all over the Magic Valley can donate a turkey to help out those in need.

It's been a decade, and this event is still going strong today. Over the past 9 years, people have brought in over 10,000 turkeys to feed families.

At 11:00 a.m at the Con Paulos auto dealership in Twin Falls, the 10th annual 60 Hours to Fight Hunger event kicked off.

South Central Community Action Partnership official Leanne Trappen said, "We're here to collect turkeys for families that are less fortunate."

Various Magic Valley organizations make this event is made possible.

Mix 103 official Debbie Dunlap said, "This year, the need is very great, so we're excited to be apart of it, and hoping to get as many turkey donations as we can."

This year's goal is a turkey on every table.

Trappen said, "This is a season of giving, and this just kicks it off. This is the beginning of that. I know that I've watched little kids growing up as they've brought their turkeys in, and it's great to see, and it is a way for parents to show their kids a way to give, without having to get too involved in other things."

South Central Community Action Partnership will donate the turkeys to Magic Valley families beginning next week.

Auto dealership owner Con Paulos said, "We have entire families that each one of the little kids bring us a turkey, and the parents, and it's a good thing. It's a good way to give back to the community."

The season of giving is here, and it touches not only the families who receive the turkeys, but those who donate, as well.
