It's the holiday season, and many people start thinking about getting a christmas tree to decorate their home. But one Twin Falls commission has had trees on their mind for many years.
This December, many people are out, searching for that perfect Christmas tree; but for members of the Twin Falls Tree Commission, thinking about trees is a year long process.
Twin Falls has been considered a 'Tree City USA' for the past 11 years now; and, in order to become a tree city use, you need to have a tree commission.
Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Bowyer says "It's hard to image that Twin Falls has a community forest, but that's what we like to say, it's a community forest in Twin Falls.
Twin Falls doesn't have a community forestry department. A lot of other communities do, that's where the tree commission steps in.
Certified arborists are needed to keep the trees healthy. Most people get Christmas trees to decorate for the holiday, but members of the Twin Falls Tree Commission work to keep trees decorating the area for years to come.
