Aberdeen man facing charges for allegedly killing Rupert man

An Aberdeen resident facing seven charges related to the shooting death of a man from Rupert was arraigned in Cassia County Tuesday.

On September 19, 2009, Liopoldo Amezcua, 25, of Rupert died after being shot once in the head, near the Old Raft River Store in eastern cassia county.

Police arrested Gerry Salgado, 22, of Aberdeen, Idaho, and charged him with first degree murder, aggravated battery, and attempted murder; as well as grand theft, battery, conspiracy to commit drug trafficking in methamphetamine and robbery.

Tuesday, Salgado pled not guilty to the charges. A pre-trial conference will be held on March 30, 2010 and his trial is set to begin April 5, 2010 at 9am.
