Idaho Power officials toured the College Of Southern Idaho's Health Science and Human Services Building. Wednesday’s trip was to determine how much incentive money the college has earned for the building's energy efficient measures.

Idaho Power has three incentive programs to help promote the use of energy efficiency; and CSI's newest addition to the campus stands up to the challenge.

The building qualifies for two of the three programs, meaning Idaho Power is rewarding the college with a hefty check. Among its energy saving techniques, the building also boasts receptacle load controls,

Chris Pollow, Idaho Power says, "And these controls they put on this building will eliminate all of that, what we call phantom load, when there in nobody in the spaces.”

And is heated and cooled by geothermal water.

Allen Scherbinske, Physical Plant Assistant Director says "For every dollar's worth of energy purchased, we get 5 dollars worth of heat out of it."

Officials really focused on lighting for the new building, creating an outdoor environment in an indoor setting; at the end of the tour, Idaho Power officials are nothing short of impressed:

This incentive check is only the beginning, another check will be on the way, and could total more than $35,000.
