Jerome County Sheriff's Deputies seized 20 head of cattle south east of Jerome after finding more than twice that many dead. Jorge Reyes faces three misdemeanor charges in the case, which include giving false information to a police officer, neglect and abuse of animals, and failure to remove the carcasses of more than 40 dead animals.

Fifth District Judge Thomas Borresen ruled at a forfeiture hearing earlier this week, that the 20 surviving cattle will be sold at auction next Tuesday. The proceeds will help pay for legal expenses incurred, as well as the care, feeding, and transportation of the livestock.

If there's any money left over, Reyes will get it; otherwise he'll be required to pay restitution to the county.

Right now the case is still in litigation
