Parrot Club Donates Money, Food to Salvation Army

Twin Falls

By Brittany Cooper

One local organization's motto is to 'party with a purpose'.
Through their efforts, they've managed to raise several thousand dollars and donate food to the Salvation Army.

The Southern Idaho Parrot Head Club is a fairly new organization, but they know how to fundraise. From two food drives that took place in February, they managed to bring in over 1,600 pounds of food to help the Salvation Army.

And the Empty Bowls Dinner was also a success as the group is hoping to donate approximately $4000 to them as well.

Parrot Head Club President Darlene McDonald said, "This is the first time we've done something entirely on our own where we thought it up, got our sponsors and did everything so we're very happy."

The members of the Parrot Head Club are all Jimmy Buffet fans.
They combine having a good time with helping out their community.

McDonald said, "We do party with a purpose and that's means everything we do we intend to have fun and we give to the man, community and environment wherever we can, whatever we can.

Major Eddie Patterson from the Salvation Army says these donations will be helpful as each day they continue to see new clients in need.
He said, "It's growing to the point where people who were never unemployed, are unemployed or if they worked two jobs and they only have one.
