Jerome street closed to thru traffic

According to a statement from the Idaho Transportation Department, a street in Jerome is now closed to thru traffic. Crews are reconstructing Eighth Avenue between Lincoln and Date Streets.
Right now, crews are working on the excavation and installation of irrigation and storm water systems.
The reconstruction includes new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, as well as drainage systems.
Road widening and construction will begin later this spring, and is expected to be finished by the end of May.
One lane is open to residential access only; the project cost about $800,000.
