Those in juvenile detention will get education

Twin Falls

By Jay Michaels

Today the Twin Falls County Commissioners signed their annual renewal agreement to make sure kids in the local juvenile detention center get the education they need.

Commissioner Chair George Urie says Twin Falls County provides a location, the necessary security, and a clinician for the students being held in the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center in Twin Falls.

He says the Twin Falls School District provides qualified teachers.
Urie says the agreement requires the county to have a formal agreement with the 'local educational agency,' in this case, the school district.

That's so the county can receive Title One money from the state to pay for the education needed for neglected or delinquent children.
