Stolen vehicles found at Jerome impound lot

Jerome County investigators made an important discovery Thursday that landed one Magic Valley man in jail facing felony charges.

Deputies from the Jerome County Sheriffs Department executed a search warrant at around 11 o'clock Thursday morning at an impound lot northwest of Jerome, owned by 38 year old Christopher Butts.

The deputies were looking for stolen tools, but recognized a vehicle that was reported stolen in the past two weeks.

The deputies placed Butts under arrest, and got a new warrant to search for more stolen vehicles and tools suspected to be taken out of both Jerome and Lincoln counties.

According to Jerome County Sherriff Doug Mcfall, investigators have already found dozens of stolen tools, and up to seven stolen vehicles.

Butts is currently in the Jerome County Jail facing felony charges of possession of stolen vehicles and merchandise.

Lincoln County, the Jerome Police Department, and Jerome Search and Rescue all participated in the investigation as well.
