Lightning Strikes Cause Several Fires In S. Idaho

Twin Falls, Idaho - A brush fire was reported Tuesday afternoon in the Snake River Canyon, near 500 West and 500 South. According to the Jerome Rural Fire Department, the fire was started by a lightning strike.

According to officials, the fire burned nearly two acres, and they also say that they are going to let the fire burn out on its own.

Meanwhile, several other wildfires have been reported; the Buhl Corral Fire located 7 miles west of Hollister has burned nearly 81 acres.

Officials say the fire started by lightning at about 2:30pm, Tuesday; crews are working on containment but have no estimated time of when that will happen

Another fire west of Jarbidge has been reported, the 'Sailor Creek Fire’ has burned nearly 400 acres and containment is not known at this time.

And the Black Butte Fire, east of the Jarbidge Field Office, has also burned nearly 400 acres of land crews are on the scene as well, and estimated containment of this fire is also not known.
