A Bounty of Fresh Foods for People and Pets
Hailey, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The Wood River Farmers’ Market made its second stop of the week today in Hailey. The market is in Ketchum on Tuesdays. The Hailey Farmers’ Market takes place every Thursday from 2pm to 6pm until October 9th.
The market has everything ranging from fruits and vegetables to cutting boards and hand crafted dog bowls. The farmers’ market is a great place to pick up some fresh ingredients for dinner. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are plenty of pre-made local dishes to choose from. When looking for organic, locally grown foods for your family, don’t forget to keep your family dog in mind.
“Idahound is a raw dog food company. We make a variety of raw foods, two varieties. We make a beef and vegetable and a sheep and vegetable. We also make raw meat bones, dehydrate lung and loin, and then we also freeze and sell tripe, which is the ground ruminant stomach,” said Alec Barfield, Co-Owner of Idahound (http://idahound.com).
Barfield said one of the benefits of feeding local raw dog food is when you consider the history of the carnivore and their evolution, there was never a switch to a grain filled dried product, which is in many of the consumer dog foods found today.
Both the Hailey and Ketchum Farmers’ Markets accept food stamps and will match twenty dollars to go towards fresh foods. To learn more about the Wood River Farmers’ Market program, visit their website, http://wrfarmersmarket.org.
