Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) May 26th is Memorial Day.

Up in the Wood River Valley, the Hailey Cemetery is getting ready to honor all of those who fought for our country.

Currently there are 400 veterans buried in the Hailey Cemetery, at one point in their sacrificing it all to protect our freedom. And on May 26th, Memorial Day, their family members, current veterans and members of the public will all be out to honor their sacrifice.

"The importance to me, though, is that we can pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice," explains Margaret Springer, event organizer.

At 11 a.m., on Monday, May 26th, military members and the public will converge on the Hailey Cemetery for a very special Memorial Day celebration.

The Memorial Day celebration will begin with the dedication of a very special monument, the iconic "Battlefield Cross."

"This is called Battlefield Cross. This is what our military puts together out in the field when they lose one of their own. And last year, a gentleman was gracious enough to donate his time and talent to make it for us... it's made all out of wood," says Julia Springer, event organizer.

Following the dedication of this beautiful monument, the United States military will take over.

A day for honoring those who paid the ultimate price and gave us the freedom to live our lives.

The ceremony is set to begin at 11 a.m. and is open to the public and free of charge.

If you would like to help volunteer or become a sponsor of the event, contact Margaret Springer at 309-1959.
