A Hollywood Classic Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary In Sun Valley
Sun Valley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Thursday night up in Sun Valley, movie lovers of all ages packed the Sun Valley Pavilion Lawn to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the hit Hollywood Classic... "A League of Their Own".
The Sun Valley Resort along with Zion's Bank sponsored the event. Around 200 people showed up for a special free showing of the classic all-girl baseball movie. "A League of their Own" was filming back in 1992 and tells the story of the real women of the All–American Girls Professional Baseball League of the 1940s and 1950s. To help celebrate the films 20th anniversary, star of the movie Geena Davis made a special appearance and talked to the crowd a little about what it was like making this true to life movie. Davis, who played the role of Dottie Hinson in the film, now looks back over the past 20 years and can't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that the character she portrayed has inspired countless women across the globe. “Yeah it just means a lot to me. It’s so kind of iconic in a way to be able to play what these women were. You know so many people didn’t know about what they were doing back then, really playing ball and doing as great as the guys.” Said Academy Award Winning Actor - Geena Davis 10 lucky member of Thursday night's audience were randomly selected and received a special copy of "A League of Their Own", autographed by the Academy Award Winning Actress.
