Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The 2013 fishing season is here and anglers are eager to hit the rivers and lakes.
This year the Idaho Department of Fish and Game say the fish are here but the water is low.
Due to lower than normal snow falls this winter some rivers and streams are facing an abundance of fish.
Meaning, in some areas, a catch limit is waved off and a salvage order is in effect.
“A salvage order is essentially where the Fish and Game has determined that the fishery is under emanate demise… those fish will die. They take off the limits and allow people to salvage those fish, the idea is, we would rather have people take those fish home rather them just die in the spot.”
Said Doug Megargle, Idaho Fish and Game Regional Fishery Manager
About 95% of fishing locations in southern Idaho still have a catch limit.
