By Joey Martin

Idaho (KMVT-TV) Speeding, tailgating, unsafe passing and running lights are aggressive driving behaviors that can quickly turn roads deadly.

All this month the Idaho Department of Transportation is partnering with local law enforcement agencies to help make our highways safer by providing federal funding efforts and increasing patrols for aggressive driving.

The month of August has the highest rate of fatal and serious injury crashes due to aggressive driving.

According to officials, in 2011 aggressive driving was a contributing factor in almost half of all crashes in Idaho.

To avoid being an aggressive driver the ITD has a few tips you should follow in order to arrive at your destination safely.

Always plan ahead and allow extra time.

Also concentrate on your driving, relax, and drive the posted speed limit.
If confronted by an aggressive driver, safely get out of the way.

And do not challenge other driver by avoiding eye contact and by ignore all gestures.
