Alltech Speaks to Ag Community About New Technology

By Brandon Redmond

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The agriculture industry is a huge driving force in our community. It's important to know what's up and coming for the future which is why Alltech held a lecture today. Alltech is a global leader in the animal health and nutrition industry.

Jim Bannerman is the national account manager for Alltech. He's a wealth of knowledge for the agriculture industry.

"I like to say that agriculture can't work in the back forty anymore. That it's become an urban industry. By that I don't mean we are going to raise cattle in downtown Salt Lake City or something. Urban people and people in general are interested in where there food is, they are engaged in it, they can use social media to ask questions, to research," said Jim Bannerman.

The lecture series focused on how the world needs help from farmers to feed the world, raise healthy animals, and protect the environment.

"We have 93 producers, students, farmers, people in agriculture to listen to speakers that have come from other areas to talk kind of about solutions, marketing technologies and how we are going to feed the world in 2050," said Amy Schutte, Marketing Coordinator at Alltech.

Farmers in the agriculture community weren't the only ones who attended Tuesday's Meeting. Students from several universities including CSI were also in attendance.

"This is a great opportunity for them to come, meet with industry professionals and learn about agriculture. They're all in agriculture in some way in school. So this is a great way for them to learn about jobs that they can get when they get out and network," said Amy Schutte.

Alltech also discussed new technologies that are evolving within the Ag sector.

"We're bringing some of the things that we're working on that can be advantage to them going forward. Some of these technologies may not help them today, but are going to be issues that are going to be there for the next 24–36 months," said Jim Bannerman.

New technologies and new ideas to continue moving the agriculture community forward while feeding the world.
