Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Are you addicted to your Smartphone?

You’re not alone, two-thirds of the world admits they spend just as much or more time socializing on their phone than they do in person.

Wireless devices have changed the way we communicate, work and entertain ourselves.

CISCO released a world technology survey on Smartphone obsession.

The survey revealed globally, 60-percent of people compulsively check their cell phones for emails, texts or social media updates.

"I do think there can be a compulsive sort of behavior that can go along with overuse of your cell phone. I think when we see that there is an anxiety that you might miss something if I'm not permanently plugged in” said Dr. Ted Gardner, Seasons of Hope.

The survey asked 18-hundred college students if they visit with friends in person or communicating online, the results 30-percent online, 35-percent in person, and 35-percent both equally.

The survey claims those born in the late 1970's all the way until the early two-thousands are more likely to be obsessed.

"We have people growing up with technology who are pretty use to having to do two or three things at once and it comes quite natural actually” said Dr. Gardner.

The unanswered question doctors have.

If Americans are staying connected or just addicted.

An interesting fact from the survey 9 out of 10 people get dressed, brush their teeth, and check their Smartphone’s as part of their morning ritual.
