Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) AT&T announced it is spending more than seven hundred million dollars to buy up the u-s carrier Alltel, which operates in six states including Idaho.

Alltel's network covers about 4.6 million people in mainly rural areas.

Federal regulators are expected to review the deal, and an agreement is expected to close in the second half of the year.
