BLM Fighting New Fire Near Elba
Elba, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Bureau of Land Management firefighters are working to gain control of a fire that is burning 2 miles east of Elba. The cause of what officials are calling the Conner Creek fire is unknown at this time; however, fire investigators are on scene. The fire was reported around noon today. Resources working to suppress the fire include 8 engines, 1 water tender, 2 dozers, 4 SEATs, 5 Heavy Air Tankers, 1 helicopter, a lead plane, Air Attack, Raft River and ACE Rural fire assistance, as well as various overhead personnel. Due to erratic wind shifts, the fire is considered to be running, mostly burning in grass, brush and juniper. The fire is estimated to be about 910 acres and has burned onto a portion of the Sawtooth National Forest near Connor. There are numerous primary residences within 1 mile of the fire, and firefighters are working to secure this line. Containment is estimated for August 30 at 19:00, no control has been set at this time.
