Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Students within the Twin Falls School District start school this week.

And the Idaho Transportation Department is reminding parents and children about some key tips when it comes to commuting.

If walking to school, kids should walk with a group of other kids and a responsible adult.

When riding the bus, never put head, arms or hands out of the window.
And keep aisles clear, as books or bags can prove to be hazards.

Make sure the bus driver can see you when you leave or approach the bus.

Page Geske, Safe Kids Magic Valley says, "I think it's very important that they're not alone that maybe with one or two kids, if you can have, I think they should be supervised by a parent. And that kids need to know that you don't play in the street, you don't run out in the street, it's not a game."

Jerome Fiscus, Owner, North Side Bus Company adds, "please wait off the edge of the roadway and their driveways and stay back away from the edge of the road until that bus arrives and approach the bus after it stops."

Fiscus adds that kids always need to walk in front of the bus, giving a distance of at least ten feet.
