Back To School Shopping More Expensive This Year
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Retail stores across the magic valley are fully stocked with back to school supplies.
Parents will have to dig a little bit deeper into their pockets for their back to school shopping. The cost of an education may be going up, well for school supplies that is. The national retail federation expects families with children in kindergarten through 12th grade to spend more for back to school items. "I can see spending $500 easily on buying clothes and materials for the boys to go back to school” said Angie Hawkins, back to school shopper. "Probably $600, $700 with clothes and school supplies” said Autumn Pittard, back to school shopper. "I have four children. I will have to get a lot of supplies and things probably $150 per kid, except for the one who is going to college this year. For her I will probably be spending even more, boy a $1000” said Amy Hobson, back to school shopper. On average the price tag for Americans is expected to be more than six-hundred dollars. That’s 85-bucks more than last year. "We have some new expansions this year we have another 88-cent category that is bringing corporations of stuff under a dollar that is basic needs and fun new styles and twist to the old stuff” said Chris Balls, Co-Manger Wal-mart. "A lot of families shopping little tiny items a lot more things going through the register. When you're talking about 15-pencils and 25-notebooks and it just adds up quick” Todd Stimpson, Store Manager Shopko. That's why parents are hunting for the best discounts in town. "As long as we can find good deals that really helps a lot, we'll be looking for good deals” said Amy Hobson, back to school shopper. Shopping for a big deal to save a little green. Comments ( |
