Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) We have some good and bad news for bacon lovers.
Despite earlier reports, it appears there will not be a shortage of bacon on the supermarket shelves in the coming months.
However, the price of bacon and other pork products are still likely to rise.
The drought drove feed costs up, which forced many pig farmers to thin down their herds.
"Our forecast and the professionals that we've talked to doesn't look like we're going to have a huge impact on a shortage of bacon. The freezer stock is down about ten percent," said John Howard, Independent Meat Company.
Bacon and the cost of other pork products could rise by as much as ten percent next year.
