Battle Of The Books
Gooding, Idaho (KMVT-TV) 3 students from the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind took part in a nationwide reading competition Thursday morning for a shot to compete on the national level.
The contest, which is called “Battle of the Books”, requires that all three students read three novels and after the students were forced to faced a panel of judges where they had to answer question about the readings. The students were tested on the on many aspects but the main focus was their comprehensive knowledge of the reading and their depth of understanding. The competition, which is sponsored by Gallaudet University, is designed to promote higher academics among deaf and hard of hearing students. If the three students finish in the top 4 teams in the country they will then make their way to the national competition in Washington D.C at Gallaudet University for the final rounds of the reading.
