Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A local church is raising awareness about an Idaho pastor imprisoned in Iran.

Last night at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship hundreds gathered to pray for Pastor Saeed Abedini.

The Iranian–born pastor was arrested last year while building orphanages for children.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison in January for quote endangering national security.

"As his home state, the state that he chose to relocate and build his life, to plant his family, raise his children...we need to get behind him. He's one of our own," said Pamela Faness, Lighthouse Pastor’s Wife.

In a recent letter from Abedini he reportedly said the Iranian authorities have been telling him to deny Jesus Christ, and return to Islam, or face more time in prison.

Fadness is encouraging Idahoans to log onto save.saeed.org to lend support.
