Blaine County School District Adopts New Curiculum

Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) An open house was held Wednesday night in Hailey to give the public a look at the new proposed curriculum.
The Blaine County School District is in the process of adopting new language arts instructional materials.
This new program will help students and teachers to keep up with the new common core standards.
The curriculum will also include materials for its duel immersion English and Spanish classes.
The Director Of Curriculum, Angie Martinez shares with us the two year process of adoption.
"We had a task force that researched best practice. Really had to dig deep into what the common core state standards were asking of since Idaho adopted them. We wanted something that would asses students. Throughout all our work we piloted two programs at both the elementary and secondary levels and from those two pilots we selected."
The new curriculum has been recommended to the school board and pending its approval the program will take effect for the fall 2014 school year.
