Bras Across the Canyon Event Draws Hundreds
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Hundreds in our community are raising their bras to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Women, men and kids marched across the Perrine Bridge Saturday afternoon waving bras high above their heads. The goal was to gather enough people to connect the bras and span the entire canyon. Over two hundred people participated, which was just enough to get about three quarters of the way across. Each person donated a dollar and that money will be given to the mustard tree wellness clinic. "You walk in there you don’t have any insurance and you find a lump…don’t wait, just go to The Mustard Tree. They’ll take care of you," said Kendra Wolfe, event organizer. The Mustard Tree Wellness Clinic provides breast health services to those in need. Idaho is ranked last out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia in cancer screening mammogram rates. In 2009, there were over 1,100 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Idaho women and 185 deaths. Comments ( |
